Int 1518-2017
Waiving civil penalties for housing maintenance code violations where an owner made a good faith effort to correct such violations.
This bill would require the Department of Housing Preservation and Development to waive civil penalties for eligible violations if a building owner can show that they began correcting the condition which constitutes the violation prior to receiving such violation but could not complete the correction due to inability to obtain necessary materials, inability to gain access to the area where the condition causing the violation occurred, or inability to obtain a permit or license necessary to correct the violation, despite diligent and prompt applications being made.
