Voter Eligibility, Police Door to Door
Resolution urging the New York State Assembly to pass A4437, introduced by Assemblyman Roberto Ramirez, which would amend Section 5-702 of the Election Law, which grants authority for police officers to undertake door to door investigations to confirm voter eligibility, and require that investigaitons to confirm a voter's eligibility status be retained solely under the authority of local Boards of Elections which may not delegate this authority to "the sheriff or head of the police department of the county."
