Loews Theaters and Cineplex Odeon Merger

Resolution calling upon the United States Department of Justice and the New York State Attorney General to seek to reopen the consent decree authorizing the 1998 merger of Loews Theaters and Cineplex Odeon in light of recent price increases in New York City; and to investigate the growing trend toward concentration in the movie theater industry and its effect on ticket prices; as the Council of the City of New York also holds hearings on the industry concentration and its effects on the movie-going public.
