Reporting on vacant New York city housing authority dwelling units.
A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to reporting on vacant New York city housing authority dwelling units
This bill would require the Mayor, or an agency or office designated by the Mayor, to publish online and submit to the Council an annual report on NYCHA dwelling units that were vacant during the immediately preceding calendar year. The report would include, among other things, the number of vacant dwelling units, including the number of such units that are located in seniors-only developments, contain accessibility features, were recategorized as non-dwelling units, or tested positive for a hazardous substance. The report would also include other metrics such as the average vacancy length, various vacancy statuses and reasons for vacancy, and NYCHA’s efforts to promptly occupy vacant units. The report would also require information about vacancies in PACT developments, if available. The first report would be due no later than March 1, 2027.
