Pedestrian countdown displays at intersections adjacent to schools and parks.

This bill would require the Department of Transportation (“DOT”), no later than three years after the effective date of the local law, to survey all intersections with traffic control signals that are adjacent to a school (defined as providing full-time instruction to at least 250 students) or park (defined as equal to or greater than one acre and including a playground or active recreational or athletic amenity) and do not currently have pedestrian countdown displays for the purpose of determining whether pedestrian countdown displays should be installed at such intersections. The bill would require DOT to install pedestrian countdown displays at all intersections that the department determines should have such displays within two years of the completion of the survey.
