Int 1120-2016
Notification of proposed excavation or drilling.
This bill would require that the Department of Environmental Protection (the Department) be notified whenever excavation or drilling to a depth greater than 50 feet is proposed in the Bronx or north of 135th Street in Manhattan, or greater than 100 feet elsewhere in the City. If the Department determines that such proposed activity is in close proximity to critical infrastructure, proponents would be required to obtain a permit from the Department, in addition to any permits or approvals required by the Department of Buildings.
