Creation of a disaster assistance center.
A Local Law to amend the New York city charter, in relation to the creation of a disaster assistance center
This bill would require the creation of a citywide Disaster Assistance Center. The center would serve as a resource for New Yorkers affected by natural disasters. The duties of the center will include creating and distributing information on legal services organizations and private insurance companies to aid New York City residents with insurance filings. The center will also provide and distribute necessary information on local, state, and federal disaster assistance funding and programs. Finally, the center will develop and maintain a citywide disaster recovery hotline.
