Elevator requirements in newly built residential buildings.
A Local Law to amend the New York city building code, in relation to elevator requirements in newly built residential buildings
This bill would amend the city Building Code to require that new five or six story buildings need only have an elevator that accommodates a wheelchair, and not an elevator that accommodates an ambulance stretcher. For new buildings built seven or more stories high, the requirement to install elevators that can accommodate an ambulance stretcher would continue to apply.
