The proposed legislation would establish a commission to develop and implement a living treasures program to honor and support local groups and individuals who have mastered unique and culturally significant arts. The commission would annually select up to 15 program participants to each serve for a term of three years. During their tenure, participants would be responsible for showcasing their unique traditions, educating the public, and offering instruction in their recognized skill.
