Establishing an office of active transportation and an active transportation advisory board.
A Local Law to amend the New York city charter and the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to establishing an office of active transportation and an active transportation advisory board
This bill would establish an Office of Active Transportation and an Active Transportation Advisory Board. The Advisory Board would consist of 12 members: eight appointed by the Speaker of the Council and four appointed by the Mayor. The Office would grow and improve active transportation by coordinating infrastructure and policy initiatives, conducting outreach, reviewing information on complaints and violations, and serving as a liaison between active transportation users, residents, and government. The Office would also help active transportation users navigate City licensing and permitting requirements. The Office would also submit an annual report advising the Mayor and various agencies on active transportation trends and make policy recommendations on an ongoing basis.
