Establishing a chief privacy officer and policies and protocols relating to the handling of identifying information.

A Local Law to amend the New York city charter and the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to establishing a chief privacy officer and policies and protocols relating to the handling of identifying information

The bill requires every City agency to report on their current data collection, retention, and disclosure policies and practices. A newly established Chief Privacy Officer and interagency committee would review those reports and develop new, detailed protocols for minimizing the collection and disclosure of identifying information and protecting against the unauthorized disclosure of this information citywide.
