A Local Law to amend the New York city charter, in relation to creating a mayor’s office of industrial and manufacturing business

This bill establishes the Mayor’s office of industrial and manufacturing business. Such office would be responsible for (1) coordinating with city agencies to facilitate industrial and manufacturing business growth within the city; (2) managing technical assistance offerings to industrial and manufacturing businesses; (3) creating and implementing programs to develop the industrial and manufacturing business workforce; and (4) making recommendations to the mayor on industrial policy and the availability of property zoned for industrial uses. Within the office there would be an industrial and manufacturing business advisory board, an office of innovative economy, and an office of economic improvement. The office would be required to submit annual reports on its efforts to the Council.
