Requiring bicyclists to wear protective headgear.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of New York, in relation to requiring bicyclists to wear protective headgear

This bill would require any individual riding or operating a bicycle to wear protective headgear, otherwise known as a helmet. This bill would only cover individuals who are not already required to wear a helmet pursuant to other laws. Any person who violates this law would be liable for a civil penalty of up to $50.
