Establishing a decorative manhole cover program.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to establishing a decorative manhole cover program

This bill would require the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to establish a decorative manhole cover program. Members of the public would be able to submit manhole cover designs, and DEP, in consultation with the Art Commission, would select no less than 10 designs each year. Decorative manhole covers would be required to make up no less than 10% of manhole covers installed by DEP each year for the next 5 fiscal years.
