Requiring the installation of pedestrian lighting on step streets
A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the installation of pedestrian lighting on step streets
This bill would require the Commissioner of Transportation to install, each year, enough pedestrian lighting on at least 25 step streets to ensure that they are sufficiently lit for pedestrians. Once all step streets have sufficient lighting, the Commissioner may cease installing pedestrian lighting fixtures. Step streets are public, open-air staircases for pedestrians that connect two streets at different elevations.
