Increasing penalties for failure to comply with backflow prevention requirements
A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to increasing penalties for failure to comply with backflow prevention requirements
This bill would increase the monetary penalties to be imposed on a building owner or operator who fails to comply with installation and reporting requirements for water backflow prevention devices. For failure to install the device, the civil penalty would be $1,000-10,000 and the criminal fine would be $2,000-10,000. For failure to file an annual report, the civil penalty would be $700-10,000 and the criminal fine would be $1,400-10,000.
