A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the City of New York, in relation to carrying out testing for and reporting on the presence of controlled substances with significant potential for addiction or other serious health consequences in wastewater
This bill would require the Commissioner of Environmental Protection, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene, to conduct wastewater testing for controlled substances with significant potential for addiction or other serious health consequences at each wastewater treatment plant in New York City. This bill would also require the Commissioners to submit an annual report to the Mayor and the Speaker of the Council. The report would include information on, in part, the types and levels of controlled substances with significant potential for addiction or other serious health consequences found in wastewater and the various testing methods used.
