Concrete Bills

Structurally unsound tree privately-owned trees.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to structurally unsound privately-owned trees

This bill would permit the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to order the owner of a tree to take corrective action if DPR determines that the tree poses a near-term danger of falling on people or property. DPR would be permitted to abate the danger posed by such trees if the owner does not do so within the timeline established by the order or if the tree poses an imminent danger. DPR would charge the owner of the privately-owned trees for any work it performs and place a lien on the real property if not paid within 60 days.
