Exempting or partially exempting seniors and certain persons with disabilities from penalties for failing to remove snow or ice from sidewalks, crosswalks, curbs and other locations.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to exempting or partially exempting seniors and certain persons with disabilities from penalties for failing to remove snow or ice from sidewalks, crosswalks, curbs and other locations

The bill would require the Department of Sanitation to establish a program to assist seniors and persons with disabilities with snow removal from sidewalks abutting buildings such individuals own, lease or occupy. It would also reduce the fines by at least 50 percent for seniors and persons with disabilities who fail to remove snow from these sidewalks.
