A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the rights and responsibilities of tenants and owners regarding the lawful collection of rents

This bill would require the Department of Housing Preservation and Development to include in its “ABC’s of Housing” guide information regarding a tenant’s obligation to pay rent in cases where the owner is found to be violating the building’s certificate of occupancy. While the most recent version of this guide includes this information, this bill would codify the requirement.
