Waiver of covenants prohibiting pets.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the waiver of covenants prohibiting pets

This bill would clarify that all dwelling occupants, including condominium owners and tenants, are protected by the Pet Law, which prohibits the enforcement of no-pet lease terms against an occupant who openly and notoriously harbors a pet in violation of the terms of a lease for at least three months. The waiver would continue to allow the occupant to replace pets with pets of the same species, and would apply to occupants that have a pet in the five years before this law is enacted.
