Requiring the commissioner of health and mental hygiene to establish a green Monday program for the provision of plant-based food by certain city agencies and in food service establishments.
A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the commissioner of health and mental hygiene to establish a green Monday program for the provision of plant-based food by certain city agencies and in food service establishments, and to educate the public about the benefits of eating plant-based food
This bill would require the Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene to coordinate a Green Monday Program through which certain city agencies would serve only plant-based food on Mondays and any city food service establishment may obtain a Green Monday display certificate by certifying to the Commissioner that the establishment only serves plant-based food on Mondays. The Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene would also be required to work with the Commissioner of Environmental Protection to create educational materials for the general public on the benefits of eating plant-based food.
