Requiring the dept of correction to offer inmates civics education.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the department of correction to offer inmates civics education

This bill would require the Department of Correction (“DOC”) to provide offer inmates with civics education programming; including but not limited to the following topics: the structure of local, state and federal government, information on the value of civic engagement, and information on voting rights and the ability to vote while incarcerated.
