Developing a pilot program in southeastern Queens County to use dewatering discharge as a means of heating and cooling buildings.
A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to developing a pilot program in southeastern Queens County to use dewatering discharge as a means of heating and cooling buildings
The local law requires an agency designated by the Mayor to study existing city geothermal systems and then, based upon the results of that study, to develop a pilot program, for institutionally used city-owned or subsidized buildings located in the Brooklyn-Queens aquifer to use the groundwater for heating and cooling or electricity generation prior to any discharge of the groundwater into rivers and streams or Jamaica Bay.
