A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York and the New York city building code, in relation to requirements for smoke alarms and smoke detectors in residential and non-residential occupancies
This bill would require that, where a smoke alarm or detector is within an area of 20 feet from a stationary or fixed cooking appliance in all residential buildings, after January 1, 2021, that smoke alarms must be listed in accordance with the 8th edition of UL 217, and smoke detectors must be listed in accordance with the 7th edition of UL 268.
