Requiring the dept of social services to provide half-fare metrocards to eligible recipients of public assistance.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the department of social services to provide half-fare metrocards to eligible recipients of public assistance

The bill would require the Human Resources Administration to provide half-fare MetroCards to all public assistance recipients who are required to participate in employment, programs or activities in order to receive public assistance and require transportation to travel to locations related to employment, including but not limited to, job interviews, work activities, places of employment, and education and training. The bill would require such recipients to receive a half-fare MetroCard for the duration of their time on public assistance.
