Requiring the dept of homeless services to report on families with children in shelter.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the department of homeless services to report on families with children in shelter.

The proposed bill would require the Department of Homeless Services to produce a monthly report on the total number of families with children living in shelter or entering the shelter system disaggregated by shelter type; percentage of families found eligible disaggregated by number of applications submitted; the number of families and placed in shelter based on their individualized needs; the average length of stay for families and the total number of families leaving shelter to permanent housing; and metrics concerning school enrollment and attendance for children living in shelter.
