Reducing noise from refuse collection vehicles.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to reducing noise from refuse collection vehicles

This bill would reduce the maximum sound level for refuse collection vehicles when a compactor is engaged in the compacting cycle to 75 dBA, measured at a distance of at least 35 feet from the compacting unit. In addition, the bill would reduce the aggregate maximum sound level for operating a refuse collection vehicle within 50 feet of any residential receiving property between the hours of 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. to 75 dBA, measured at a distance of at least 35 feet from the vehicle.
