Requiring that city-owned buildings and spaces with specific occupancy classifications contain lactation rooms.
A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring that city-owned buildings and spaces with specific occupancy classifications contain lactation rooms
This law will ensure that city-owned buildings and spaces with specific occupancy classifications (those typically used as places of assembly) will have available at least one lactation room for individuals who are otherwise authorized to be at the location. This bill expands on local law number 94 for the year 2016 in that it requires more lactation rooms in more locations. More spaces are needed to accommodate women who are breast feeding (or expressing milk for later use) and want privacy and sanitary conditions. Women in places of assembly often need to stay for a long period of time and therefore need to express milk in order to maintain a steady supply and relieve discomfort.
