Creating an office of school integration within the human rights commission.
A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to creating an office of school integration within the human rights commission dedicated to studying the prevalence and causes of racial segregation in public schools and developing recommendations for remedying such segregation
This bill would require the city to establish and the New York City Human Rights Commission to administer an office of school integration within the Commission that is dedicated to studying the prevalence and causes of racial segregation in public schools. As part of its study, the office would identify, analyze and issue recommendations for remedying laws, public policies or administrative practices that may contribute to this problem. The findings and recommendations of the office would be reported by the commissioner annually to the Mayor and to the Council.
