A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to banning the sale of all lipsticks containing certain quantities of lead.
This bill bans the sale of lipstick containing lead in quantities exceeding 1.11parts per million in New York City. This amount represents the average quantity of lead found during the course of an FDA study of 400 lipsticks currently on the market. The study found that some lipsticks sold in the U.S. contained lead in excess of seven parts per million.
