Passengers could not be charged a fare that is more than twenty percent higher than the estimate. If the price is given as a range, the high-end of the range could not be more than fifty percent higher than the low-end. Services would be required to inform passengers of their right to an accurate fare estimate when the law takes effect. Those in violation of the law would be subject to a penalty of $250 to $500.
