Retention of DNA profiles by the office of chief medical examiner.
A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the retention of DNA profiles by the office of chief medical examiner
This bill would prohibit the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner from placing the DNA profiles of individuals who are, or were at one time, suspects in a crime or otherwise persons of interest to the Police Department, but who were never convicted of a crime, into a database for the purpose of comparing their DNA profiles to DNA evidence gathered at crime scenes in the future.
