Exempting or partially exempting seniors and certain persons with disabilities from penalties for failing to remove snow or ice from sidewalks, crosswalks, curbs and other locations.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to exempting or partially exempting seniors and certain persons with disabilities from penalties for failing to remove snow or ice from sidewalks, crosswalks, curbs and other locations.

The bill would require DSNY to establish a program to assist seniors and the disabled with snow removal from sidewalks abutting buildings such individuals own, lease or occupy and would reduce fines for failure to remove snow from these sidewalks by at least fifty percent.
