Health and safety of youth football teams.

A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the health and safety of youth football teams.

This bill would require the presence of a doctor at youth tackle football games, and the presence of a doctor or athletic trainer at youth tackle football practices, and reporting to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on any injuries or concussions occurring at the game or practice. It would prohibit the participation of an individual under the age of 18 in a tackle football game or practice if they have been administered a concussion test. It would require the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to report on the number of concussions and injuries sustained in youth football, along with related data. It would require a permit from the Department of Parks and Recreation before any youth tackle football game or practice could occur on City-owned parkland.
