Information on affordable internet programs for students and families.
This bill would require the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DOITT) to develop written materials containing information on affordable internet programs available to students and families in the City. DOITT would be required to provide such written materials to the Department of Education (DOE) to be distributed to students at every school at the beginning of each academic year. DOITT, in coordination with DOE, would be required to provide assistance with applying for affordable internet programs at every school. DOITT would be required to post the information contained in the written materials on its website. DOITT would also be required to annually report on the distribution of the written materials and assistance provided to families at every school, including any issues with such distribution or assistance.
