Summary

This bill would require the Fire Department (FDNY) to establish a program to exchange and dispose of firefighting equipment that contains perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). This program would complement FDNY’s efforts to replace firefighting gear containing PFAS chemicals, with equipment that does not contain intentionally added PFAS, or PFAS composition at or above unsafe levels.
